SixteenthAnnual Nino Memorial

From L-R (Eagleglass, Toolman, Lucas, Andy, Nino)Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Rolling Hill Golf Course Alton, Illinoise

Nino Memorial XVI took place on the hallowed grounds of Rolling Hills Golf Course in Godfrey, Illinois on July 11, 2015. Tim "Eagleglass" Spiegelglass was gloating so much about his Decader award that he apparently forgot he needed to play a solid round of golf too if he wanted another title. He was horrendous off the tee. If not for his partner Tim "Toolman" Boyer, the team wouldn't have finished in second place (77).

But the day belonged to Team Royal - comprised of Evan Glass and Jaeson "Nino" Soprano. With a 73, they tore up the competition. Glass took home the long drive and closest to the pin titles as well (holes 14 and 15 respectively). According to group member Robbie Mentle, Glass was en fuego from tee to green. Mentle and his partner Brett "Noodles" Bunsick were the dark horses coming into the tournament, but they came away holding their heads high with a round of 79.

The only team not in the 70s was the ginger duo of Brian "Obes" Oberman and Dave "Dusty" Hoffman. The pair, who dubbed themselves Code Red, ran into trouble on the back nine, firing a score of 86. Hoffman rode off from Godfrey in disgust, skipping the final banquet. If there were a sportsmanship award in 2015, Hoffman would have come in last place as well. Oberman's shots, while powerful, were errant all day. On Hole 13, he flew the green and struck a soda machine flush. This was Glass' second title and Nino's 5th title. It is anticipated that NM XVII will be held in Denver, Colorado. More details to follow.

Dusty Interviews Obes

1) Where is your last place trophy from this year's NM16? Did you tell your wife about the trophy?

Trophy is melting in my hot ass car right about now. I told my wife about it and she thought we were a bunch of losers.

2) Will you participate in a future NM? Why/why not?

Yes I would participate, but not if I have to drive with Spiegelasshole again. Guy brought me down which I think affected my golf game.

3) In three sentences, describe Tim "Eagleglass" Spiegelglass' quality of play at this year's NM.

How about 3 words. Awful, horrible, and pathetic. He should have been on Team Code Red the way he played.

4) How disappointed were you in your partner this year?

What made your team so bad? Team sport, so not disappointed in my partner at all as Im there to enjoy myself, winning is 2nd on the list. Our team was bad because we were more worried about putting on suntan lotion than making a big shot.

5) What is a "Code Red"?

a team of gingers getting skin cancer playing in the hot summer sun.

6) If the NM17 was held in a city other than Denver, what would you choose?

French Lick,IN. Was there a couple years ago and it was the perfect setup for a golf trip. Driving distance from St. Louis, has 3 great courses on hotel property, casino, steakhouse, and of course Im sure slutty college girls nearby. Price was very reasonable as well.

7) What is your best score ever on 18 holes?

83, but that was at Forest Park. 85 at a real course that doesnt have geriatrics dying on the back 9.
